Welcome to St. Aidan’s National School, Bawnboy, Co. Cavan

As we begin the 2025/26 school year, we are delighted to welcome Ms. Quirke to our staff. We are also thrilled to have ten wonderful Junior Infants starting their journey with us, bringing our enrolment to 78 pupils.

St. Aidan’s is a school where every person is a valued member of a happy, vibrant learning community. Tá gach dalta, tuismitheoir agus múinteoir lárnach i bpobal foghlama bríomhar agus cairdiúil anseo i Scoil Náisiúnta Aodáin.

In St. Aidan’s, we aim to provide a well-structured, caring and positive learning environment with plenty of fun and adventure along the way. Our highly dedicated and creative staff work hard to foster the holistic development of our pupils, supporting them to grow in confidence, curiosity and kindness.

We are hugely supported by our parent body, who constantly work in partnership with us, and our website highlights the many events and activities taking place across the school year.

I would like to wish each of our students the very best for the year ahead. There will inevitably be challenges, but with the right support we hope every child will flourish and enjoy a happy, successful school year.

Tá súil agam go mbainfidh sibh taitneamh as ár suíomh gréasáin agus go bhfeicfidh sibh bríomhar, dearfach agus spraíúil scoil anseo i mBunbhó.

Le gach dea-ghuí,
James Rudden

Dave Rudden Visit, 12th December 2018

The pupils in 2nd – 6th Classes had a fantastic morning when past pupil and award winning author Dave Rudden and friend and author Graham Tugwell visited our school and hosted an interactive storytelling session known as ‘Greeting Hereos’.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and learned about the structure of storytelling, emotional literacy, drama, inclusion, diversity and problem-solving.

Thank you Dave for organising this fun-filled unique interactive experience for our pupils!

Sr. Anna Visit, 3rd October 2018

On Wednesday 3rd October we extended a special welcome to Sr Anna, our Diocesan Religious Examiner who was visiting our school to speak to the children and teachers.  We held a whole-school assembly based on the theme ‘God Is Love’.  It was a great opportunity for the children to show how wonderful the new ‘Grow In Love’ Religion Scheme is by giving a little taste of what they have been learning in the different class levels.

Magic Show, 25th October 2018

There was lots of fun, laughter, excitement and audience participation on the last day before the Halloween Break when the pupils were treated to a Comedy Magic Show by Professional Magician Carl Campbell.

A big thank you to George Finglas who organised this truly entertaining event for our school.

Halloween Fun, 25th October 2018

Samba Drum Class, November 2018

All classes are currently taking part in a six week programme of samba, drumming and percussion with Kieran Gallagher from ‘Kada Kaboom Arts’.

The programme provides an opportunity for the children to interact, respond and express themselves through music while learning musical rhythms in a fun way.
