Welcome to St. Aidan’s National School, Bawnboy, Co. Cavan

As we begin the 2025/26 school year, we are delighted to welcome Ms. Quirke to our staff. We are also thrilled to have ten wonderful Junior Infants starting their journey with us, bringing our enrolment to 78 pupils.

St. Aidan’s is a school where every person is a valued member of a happy, vibrant learning community. Tá gach dalta, tuismitheoir agus múinteoir lárnach i bpobal foghlama bríomhar agus cairdiúil anseo i Scoil Náisiúnta Aodáin.

In St. Aidan’s, we aim to provide a well-structured, caring and positive learning environment with plenty of fun and adventure along the way. Our highly dedicated and creative staff work hard to foster the holistic development of our pupils, supporting them to grow in confidence, curiosity and kindness.

We are hugely supported by our parent body, who constantly work in partnership with us, and our website highlights the many events and activities taking place across the school year.

I would like to wish each of our students the very best for the year ahead. There will inevitably be challenges, but with the right support we hope every child will flourish and enjoy a happy, successful school year.

As part of the Cheerios Childline Breakfast Together Week, our pupils took part in a breakfast morning today.  They all enjoyed eating their breakfast together in school as well as raising money for Childline in the process.

P.J. Dolan Visits, 20th October 2014

Picture

It was a huge pleasure for 2nd and 3rd Class when P.J. Dolan (Sarah and Brian O’Neill’s Granddad) called to tell the children all about Newgrange where he used to work.  P.J. explained exactly how Neolithic men built the passage chamber in 3200 B.C. and all about the winter solstice.  It was a very interesting talk.
Thank you P.J.

Toys in the Past, 10th October 2014

Picture

The children in Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class have been busy learning all about ‘Toys in the past’ as part of History Class.  They have been looking at similarities and differences between toys today and toys that their parents and grandparents would have played with when they were younger.  Here are some of the pupils with toys belonging to their parents.
