Child Safeguarding
The Board of Management’s annual review of the school’s Child Safeguarding Statement took place on October 17th 2024.
Our Child Safeguarding Statement can be found here under Policies.
The Designated Liaison Person (DLP) is James Rudden and the Deputy Designated Liaison Person (DDLP) is Juliana Doherty.

Ballinamore Library hosted a Writers’ Workshop with award-winning author and past-pupil Dave Rudden. He stimulated their imagination in an enthusiastic and vibrant way and we are sure that he has inspired future authors from St. Aidan’s.
Congratulations to Dave on your wonderful achievement at the recent Bord Gais Energy Awards.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal. The eldest and youngest pupils handed over the boxes to the Team Hope representative. No doubt they will brighten up many children’s Christmas.
We had two good reasons to celebrate the end of term here in St. Aidan’s with the official opening of our new pitch and the raising of our first Green Flag.
See photos below of the momentous occasion.

Ciaran McBrien, a local ESB technician, visited the Junior room to talk about safety with electicity. They discussed the danger of flying kites near overhead wires and how to use electricity safely in the home. The pupils enjoyed seeing and trying out Ciaran’s equipment!
Kevin Conlon, Sky Sports Ambassador, visited the school to promote the benefit of being involved in team sports. The 5th & 6th Classes participated in co-operative games to help build team-work skills.
2nd, 3rd & 4th classes did some science experiments about exercise. They constructed a model of a lung with household materials. They also measured their pulse before and after exercising. As you can see, they think that Science is fun!
Congratulations to our 6th Class pupils; Rory, Jack, Pauric & Liam, who received their Confirmation on the 5th of March. They were confirmed by the Most Reverend Bishop Leo O’Reilly in our Lady Of Lourdes Church, Ballyconnell.
The President of the INTO, Rosena Jordan, visited our school on the 15th February. The pupils had a wonderful opportunity to listen to her talk about her year as president. The pupils sang for her and even got a chance to try on her chain of office! She was delighted to meet Tom, whose father hails from her native county, Mayo. Thank you to Rosena, for taking the time to visit our school.
David Rodgers, our local fireman, came in to talk to the pupils about the dangers of fire and fire safety, especially in the home. The pupils had to complete an escape plan checklist and check their fire alarms at home. Thank you David!
Yummy! Pancake Tuesday again!
