Our pupils, along with pupils from other local schools, attended a Ceremony of Commemoration of the Leaders of 1916 at Bawnboy Workhouse on Friday 12th May. We sang ‘The Ballad of James Connolly’ and ‘Ireland’s Call’. With the help of Cavan County Council a garden of remembrance was officially opened. Seven trees, one for each of the signatories, have been planted and the enclosed garden has a seating area where people can come and remember the events of 1916.
